As art is an intersection, it can be integrated into virtually any content curriculum.

• Visual art is a cross-cultural language that should be spoken fluently by us all; indeed our increasing capitalist and technologic global environment surrounds us in static and moving images that affect us in very deep ways.

• Key to teaching is student engagement and motivation.

• Students are genuinely interested in the world; this is where motivation can be tapped.

• Students are inherently capable of making sense of the world on their own intelligent terms, and using this principle to guide student/teacher relationships is another way to tap into motivation.
