These 9-12 grade students were applying compositional considerations and techniques learned the week before, in the context of a new technique: collage.
Collage allows an artist to create original, dynamic images without having to depend on drawing skills.
The assignment was to examine archetypes (or ideas/patterns universal to the human experience) and symbols used to illustrate them,
then to make a collage based on that archetype.
